Wheat Cake

Here’s a quick stovetop Wheat Cake recipe using simple ingredients from your kitchen:

Ingredients:

  • Wheat flour: 1 cup
  • Milk: ½ cup (or as needed for batter)
  • Honey: 2–3 tablespoons (as a sweetener)
  • Oil: 2 tablespoons (sunflower or olive oil for a heart-healthy option)
  • Baking powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Cardamom (optional): A pinch for flavor
  • Optional: Nuts, raisins, or a pinch of cinnamon for added taste

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Batter:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine wheat flour, baking powder, and cardamom powder (if using).
  2. Add honey and oil, then mix well.
  3. Gradually pour in milk while whisking to create a smooth batter. The batter should be pourable but not too runny.
  4. Optional: Add chopped nuts or raisins for extra texture.

2. Cook the Cake on the Stovetop:

  1. Grease a small, deep pan or a heavy-bottomed vessel with a little oil. Line it with parchment paper if available.
  2. Pour the batter into the greased pan and level it out.
  3. Place a stand or a small steel plate at the bottom of a large, heavy pot or idli cooker.
  4. Put the cake pan on the stand and cover the pot with a tight lid. If using a pressure cooker, remove the whistle.
  5. Cook on low heat for 30–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

3. Cool and Serve:

  1. Once cooked, allow the cake to cool for 10–15 minutes before removing it from the pan.
  2. Slice and enjoy as a tea-time snack or light dessert.
