Wheat Cake

Here’s a quick stovetop Wheat Cake recipe using simple ingredients from your kitchen:

Ingredients:

  • Wheat flour: 1 cup
  • Milk: ½ cup (or as needed for batter)
  • Honey: 2–3 tablespoons (as a sweetener)
  • Oil: 2 tablespoons (sunflower or olive oil for a heart-healthy option)
  • Baking powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Cardamom (optional): A pinch for flavor
  • Optional: Nuts, raisins, or a pinch of cinnamon for added taste

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Batter:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine wheat flour, baking powder, and cardamom powder (if using).
  2. Add honey and oil, then mix well.
  3. Gradually pour in milk while whisking to create a smooth batter. The batter should be pourable but not too runny.
  4. Optional: Add chopped nuts or raisins for extra texture.

2. Cook the Cake on the Stovetop:

  1. Grease a small, deep pan or a heavy-bottomed vessel with a little oil. Line it with parchment paper if available.
  2. Pour the batter into the greased pan and level it out.
  3. Place a stand or a small steel plate at the bottom of a large, heavy pot or idli cooker.
  4. Put the cake pan on the stand and cover the pot with a tight lid. If using a pressure cooker, remove the whistle.
  5. Cook on low heat for 30–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

3. Cool and Serve:

  1. Once cooked, allow the cake to cool for 10–15 minutes before removing it from the pan.
  2. Slice and enjoy as a tea-time snack or light dessert.

Tips for employees(In telugu)

(From Eenadu Sunday special  17/07/11)

Try these

WORK as if you have no need of the money. LOVE as if nobody ever made you suffer. DANCE as if nobody is watching you. SING as if nobody is hearing you. LIVE as if the paradise were on this Earth.

For TV and Computer users(how to avoid eye problems)

The eye was not made to be constantly focused on close objects. If your work requires that you stare at a computer screen all day long or if you watch a lot of television, stop from time to time to do a few eye exercises. For example, roll your eyes in large circles in both directions; look over to each side as far as possible and then go from up to down; or scan an imaginary text on the wall from left to right; or look out the window as far as you can following the horizon then return to a point right in front of you and begin again. In this way, you will avoid long term eye problems, you will enlarge your inner space, and relax both your eyes and your mind.
